

Reed was released as part of NXT restructuring and budget cuts. Reed’s last match came on the 21 July episode NXT show where he lost to Adam Cole. But the main roster call-up never came up.

He also worked a few dark matches before RAW and SmackDown and even appeared on the WWE Main Event show. He later dropped the title to Isaiah “Swerve” Scott in June amid the rumours of main roster call-up. He got a serious push late in 2020, which saw him winning the NXT North American Title in May 2020. He then went on to sign with AEW, where his former stablemates and friends are working as Executive Vice Presidents. However, Cole did not sign a new deal with WWE. WWE tried to persuade him to sign a new contract and discussed plans with him for WWE main roster. He signed an extension to be with WWE until August 30th.
